Barrett Watten is an American poet, critic, editor, and educator. He is associated with Language poetry, a movement that emerged on the West Coast of the United States in the 1970s. Watten is a professor of English at Wayne State University in Detroit, where he has taught since 1994. His academic work focuses on modernism, avant-garde poetics, and cultural studies.
