John Byron è stato un ammiraglio inglese. Venne soprannominato Foul-weather Jack a causa della sua frequente sfortuna con le condizioni meteorologiche. A suo nome venne nominata una città nel Nuovo Galles del Sud, in Australia, ovvero Byron Bay.
