Children as Witnesses (Wiley Series in Psychology of Crime, Policing and Law)

"In the last decade the topic of children as witnesses has developed from a minority interest studied by a handful of psychologists and lawyers to a subject which now generates international media coverage. This book is therefore timely in that it offers the busy professional the latest and most useful developments in child witness research and practice. A range of techniques is described, from prior preparation through courtroom visits and explanatory leaflets to the use of videotechnology in the form of live video links and pre-recorded televised interviews. The international team of authors has given each chapter a clear, applied focus and the relevant legal context is provided by specialists who have written easily digestible summaries of the legal status of children's evidence in the countries represented - USA, Canada, Germany, England and Scotland." "Children as Witnesses will prove an invaluable guide not only for psychologists working in this area but also for all those concerned with crime detection and prevention, policing and the judicial process."--BOOK JACKET.
