Amelia Earhart

Biography of Amelia Earhart, an aviatrix who received the Distinguished Flying Cross and began championing the efforts of women throughout the world to explore careers -- especially in aviation. Tragically, just days before her fortieth birthday, Earhart and her plane vanished en route to tiny Howland Island in the Pacific Ocean as she neared the end of a round-the-world journey.
