Other voices, other views

"The debate over canon represented by this book is implicit in the broad range of its contents. As a whole, it argues for expansion: the inclusion of other voices to augment the standard university syllabus for the early modern period, urging recognition of the period's diversity and reforming the conditions under which we pass judgment on its culture."--BOOK JACKET.

"Each of these essays reveals the literary potential of works that have been considered inferior and inappropriate for serious study. While such individual discovery is certainly valuable, what is even more interesting is their significance as a group. All the essays contained here are engaged in opening texts up to different perspectives, creating a canon that speaks of diversity rather than uniformity."--BOOK JACKET.
