The altered landscape

"The impact of humankind on this planet has been explored by artists in many media, including photography. Among contemporary practitioners of this art form are photographers whose aesthetic concerns have pushed beyond the boundaries of the conventionally beautiful to create images of stunning visual power and forceful intellectual and emotional content.

Over the past decade, the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno has been assembling a collection of this work - one of the largest and most complete of its kind - known as The Altered Landscape: The Carol Franc Buck Collection."--BOOK JACKET.

"This book is intended as an introduction to The Altered Landscape Collection. But even more, it introduces readers to the specific aesthetic objectives of the artists creating the photographs and to the larger issues of humankind's attitudes toward and uses of the land."--BOOK JACKET.
