Desde el banquito

This novel follows the lives of Amèlia, Montse, and Llúcia, three widows from Barcelona born during the Second Spanish Republic, who often meet on a bench in Plaça Virrei Amat, located in this same city. Through their intimate and everyday stories, the novel constructs a deeply human portrait that spans from the end of the Spanish Civil War to the present day. With Barcelona, Caracas, and New York City as its principal settings, the narrative interweaves memory, exile, and belonging. Here, recollections drive not only the anecdotes of the protagonists, but also the reader’s place within this contemporaneity that brings us closer to them.
