When I was there

This volume is a collection of 20 speeches, mainly made during Fu Ying's post as Ambassador to Australia and the United Kingdom. It also includes several articles and interviews conducted with major English media addressing the relationship between China and the West. In these discourses she also shares her own interpretation of modern China - what kind of country China is, how it differs from other countries of the world, what are the implications of its rapid rise as an economic power, and in what way China is to be perceived and understood by the world.
